Phase C of Anarchive Hosting: when the archive gets serious, rent one refurbished dedicated server from the Hetzner Server Auction. Roughly €30 a month — near the current spend — buys a whole machine with 16 TB of real disk.
## The Machine
Auction servers in the 2×8 TB class pass through at €26–40 a month with no setup fee. One box runs the wiki farm, a small Nextcloud if wanted, and an IPFS node with disk to spare — consolidating everything the previous phases spread across services.
## The IPFS Angle
Sixteen terabytes of owned disk makes the box a natural second Homebase peer for the Anarchive's pin ring: an `ipfs-cluster-follow` node mirroring everything the home node pins, in a different failure domain. The Assets in IPFS and IPFS Cluster pages on this site sketched exactly this a decade early.
## Watching the Auction
Prices drop over time and good configurations recur. Track them with Server Radar and set an alert rather than buying the first listing.
